Jason Maling
Jason Maling has guided people towards publically spanking each other on the original site of Lords Cricket Ground, encouraged people to crawl on their knees through the streets of the London and remapped cities in Europe with sharp sticks. He once ranted his way through most of the ruined Abbeys of rural England, generated an espionage ring in New Zealand and harnessed artists for public transport in Melbourne. As a performer, object maker and writer he creates systems for social exchange where the work becomes a collaboratively mediated tool. Often occurring in unusual locations Maling inserts playful fictions and pretenses into life and habit that slowly adapt to become accepted anomalies. His recent work includes The League of Resonance, (City of Melbourne); The Vorticist (City of Yarra); and The Prismatic Audit (Abbotsford Convent, Melbourne Central Shopping Centre). Jason is a founding member of the collective Field Theory.
