Branch Nebula
Branch Nebula creates distinctive physical performance combining dance, theatre, acrobatics, music and design. Committed to engaging with young and diverse audiences, their work blends popular culture and contemporary art forms – from wrestling, BMX competitions and peep shows, to video art and contemporary dance.
Co-founded by Mirabelle Wouters and Lee Wilson in 1998, Branch Nebula sees Performance Space as the ‘industrial kitchen’ for an extended community of contemporary artists, audiences and ideas. The company has been awarded residencies to develop their major ensemble works. They have mentored young artists, collaborated on peer artists’ projects, participated in skills development workshops, presented their performance works, and recently were awarded a TransLab residency to research and develop their new intercultural work – Sweat.
“Getting the TransLab residency helped us to secure further support… It’s the kick start of our next big work, so it’s very exciting.”
