Margie Medlin is an artist, lighting designer, scenographer and film-maker. She works in both live performance and installation exploring the relationships between dance and the moving image.

Her earliest work was at Performance Space during the 1980’s.

“It was there that I learnt what it meant to collaborate – by doing regular work with different artists and having to work out each time – what I had to offer, what we could play with in the space, and how to have the conversations that matter.”

Her first performance/installation work Depth of Field (1987) was shown in the gallery at Performance Space.

“It was this capacity to work in a range of ways, across and between visual arts and performance, on other people’s work and on your own, that I learnt a balance between the craft and the art.”

Margie’s installation and film work has since been exhibited at leading European media centres. Her lighting design and scenography for live performance has taken her to International festivals around Australia, Asia and the United States.
