Time_Place_Space in association with Performance Space, Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts, Parallelo and AC Arts present a series of Artist Talks.

Drawing on their personal experiences as performer, director, visual artist and writer, Threes Anna – Netherlands, Shigeaki Iwai – Japan and Ahn Pilyun – Korea, present talks and documentation on past works and current preoccupations.

Threes Anna
Site specific performance and spectacle

Threes is a writer and director who was Artistic Director of Internationally renowned site-specific theatre Company Dogtroep from 1990 – 1999. She directed performances on the remains of the Berlin Wall, during the war in Belgrade, after the first elections in South Africa, in the snow at the Winter Olympics in France and in the slums of Uzbekistan.

Shigeaki Iwai
The current Japanese multiculturalism -
‘travelling around 'vernacular art'

Shigeaki is a visual artist, last seen in Australia in 2001 at the International Art Space, Kellerberin Australia (IASKA), developing the work – Could you guide me around, ‘cos I’m just tourist from Japan. Shigeaki will present documentation of recent works that deal with issues of communication and multicultural phenomena in cities and rural areas in the world.

Ahn Pilyun
The Performer as Shaman

Pilyun is a performance and visual artist who, through a synthesis of western art practice and her local cultural traditions, explores the complexity of her Korean identity in the context of rapid globalisation and technological development. Through her installation and performance practice, Pilyun discovers stories and objects that signify the realm of the feminine, including the symbolism of Korean shaman.
